Icing conditions can be brutal for the most part, however pilots train on various types of aircrafts in order to get a feel of how flying or operating an aircraft would be in such hard conditions. The new AW609 is now getting ready for flight tests in icing conditions since the last crash that happened two years ago in October of 2015.

The trials will are going to be on the Leonardo helicopter division’s AW609 and it’s going to be in Marquette, Michigan which can be very cold and in some cases very harsh conditions to fly in. The testing will first begin in Philadelphia but soon will be moved to Michigan for various reasons but most important it will confirm the AW609 aircraft performance and its ability to cope in harsh but known conditions.

Oct 26 2015 was an important date for Iowa, well at least it was for the people in the aircraft industry. It was selected to develop a palletized aerial refueling system to enable the U.S marine corps to refuel other aircraft while in the air.

This development was the idea of Cobham. This big news and many people are happy and excited to hear that. Engineers in Iowa working constantly on modifying existing airplanes for the VARS system (v-22 Aerial Refueling system). this is not only going to help refuel plains in the air. But will also help the marine in refueling. This is very beneficial for the military and a key factor to its successes.

Babcock Mission Critical Services Onshore has given the green light to supply Northern Ireland with a new air ambulance service.  The beginning of the operation was in 2013 to campaign the commencement of the new facility to be built In regards to the new air crafts. Babcock has agreed to hold a 3-year contract with an additional 2 years pending as they monitor the outcome through the time serving.

During the duration of the contract they Babcock will supply a total of two Airbus helicopters H135 light twins.  Although two helicopters have been promised it has yet to be released what exact helicopters will be handed over to the Air ambulance of Northern Ireland.  Speculation from Flight Fleets Analyzer lists that it currently has “two Safran Helicopter Engines Arrius 2B2-powered examples currently in storage, registered as G-SASA and G-WONN.” These helicopters have past experience in the same field having “operated for the Scottish Ambulance Service and the South and East Wales Police Air Support Unit, respectively."

Airbus Defence and Space has just announced their signing of a memorandum of understanding with Roketsan for a collaboration. The deal is centered around a program aimed at arming the C295W with a range of air-to-surface weapons on the medium utility transport.

Although the C295W has already been tested with weapons dropping from the underwing hardpoints of the transport that was more for anti-submarine and other maritime missions.
