Use zinc-plated adapter fasteners with zinc coatings of less than 0.0005 inches. Thinly-coated zinc plated screws are prone to corrosion.

Use a fastening option that you cannot find technical data about. This can result in using screws that are unable to support the load of the roofing and lead to failure.
Screw Installation
Do:

Hold the screw gun at a right angle to allow for effective installation.

Set the nut-setter magnet such that the hex of the screw is fully embedded. This will eliminate wobbling and improve the installation process.

Tap the fastener threads after drilling is completed. This will lower the risk of point failure.

Use sealing fasteners to tighten screws and foster a leak-free seal. This will also ensure that the sealant protrudes out slightly beyond the flange or the metal backing’s outer edge.
Don’t:

Apply excessive pressure during installation. This produces heat that can weaken the fastening and lead to failure.

Use sealing washers to overdrive screws. This will cause the sealant to spill over the metal backing’s outer edge. It will also damage the washer and lead to leaks.

Use worn out insert bits or nut-setters. Use of these can cause inconsistency during installation and can damage the panel’s paint.

Use impact screw guns to install self-drilling screws. Impact tools exert too much pressure on the screws which can cause it to fail. Impact tools can also damage painted surfaces and strip out screws.
